HUMAN RESOURCES PSYCHOMETRIC ASSESSMENT EXERCISES
The company undertakes psychological assessment procedures in accordance with the Psychological Practices Act, 1971. These are carried out under the professional supervision of the registered psychologist, Mr David E. Harrison, BA(Hons.), MSc. (Lond.), or such other psychologist(s) as are appropriate for the professional requirements of the task(s) involved.
These psychometric procedures include executive assessment, middle-level, and vocational guidance batteries. Recommendations of changes of career direction, and training suggestions are made where appropriate.
Executive and Middle-Level assessment reports are normally provided to the employer initially, following which arrangements are made for the Registered Psychologist to provide feedback counselling to the individual concerned. In the case of Vocational Guidance, the assessee receives the report and meets with the psychologist for discussion of the report.
The tests used in the Human Resources battery have either been developed abroad and normed and validated for use in Zimbabwe, or they have been developed in Zimbabwe and normed locally by Human Resources (Pvt.) Ltd.
The Executive Assessment Exercise includes a comprehensive report on a focused interview carried out by the psychologist. This covers in detail the background, education, training, work experiences, and interests of the assessee. The report consists of approximately 23 pages of written and graphical information, including recommendations on the suitability/non-suitability of the applicant, or of compensatory training that might be needed.
The Middle-Level Assessment Exercise yields 10-13 pages of written and graphical information. Each test result is described and explained. The final section of the report is a presentation by the psychologist of the main considerations derived from the information analyzed, together with conclusions and recommendations based on that information.
